One Day in Nashville: A First-Timer’s Itinerary
Prices & schedules checked October 18, 2026
This plan keeps the daytime downtown, where the Ryman, the Hall of Fame and the riverfront are all walkable, and gives you two choices for the evening. Times are suggestions; check each listing for your date.
Morning: the Ryman (9 a.m.)
Start when the Ryman opens (9 a.m. per the listing) — it’s a 1–2 hour self-guided visit, and you can grab a photo on the famous stage. It’s at 116 Fifth Ave N, a block off Broadway.
We may earn a commission when you book through our links, at no extra cost to you. Details
Late morning: Hall of Fame + Studio B
Walk to the Country Music Hall of Fame at 222 Fifth Ave S. The combo ticket adds a 1-hour guided tour of RCA Studio B; reserve your Studio B time from the voucher as soon as you book, and allow 2–5 hours in total. Have lunch nearby.
Afternoon: see the rest of town
Pick one: the hop-on-hop-off trolley (departures about every half hour until around 4 p.m. per the listing), the quick 1-hour double-decker, or a 90-minute golf cart tour. Comparison in our trolley guide.
Late afternoon: the river
Take the 90-minute sightseeing cruise from Riverfront Park at the foot of Broadway. On GetYourGuide it can be cancelled free up to 24 hours ahead; on Viator it’s non-refundable.
Evening: Opry or Broadway?
- The Opry: the show listing gives a 7:00 p.m. start at the Opry House, 600 Opry Mills Dr. It’s a drive from downtown, so leave plenty of time. See the music history guide.
- Broadway: stay downtown, walk the honky-tonks, or join a 21+ party ride or pub crawl (compared in our honky-tonk guide).
Short on time? One booking does most of it
Gray Line’s Discover Nashville tour (3.5 hours, from $103.53 on Viator, as listed Oct 2026) includes a narrated city tour plus Ryman and Hall of Fame admission, leaving from the Riverfront Train Station.
Where to stay
This plan keeps the daytime downtown, so a downtown base means less driving and parking, and an easy walk back after a night on Broadway. We don’t recommend specific hotels or rentals: we haven’t stayed in them, and prices change daily. Before you book, check the total with fees and taxes, the cancellation policy and whether parking is included.
