Savannah St. Patrick’s Day 2027: Parade Date, and Which Tours Close
Prices & schedules checked October 18, 2026
Savannah’s parade is always held on March 17, whatever the weekday, so in 2027 it falls on a Wednesday. It’s free to watch from the sidewalks and squares. The catch for visitors: several of the city’s biggest sightseeing tours don’t run that day.
What we know so far
- Date: Wednesday, March 17, 2027. The Parade Committee says the day begins with an 8:00 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, open to all.
- Start time: 10:15 a.m. from Gwinnett and Abercorn streets, east of Forsyth Park, according to Savannah.com’s 2027 listing. Savannah News Today notes that 10:15 a.m. was the 2026 time and the 2027 times hadn’t been posted when it checked. Confirm closer to the date.
- No festival: since 2021 there have been no permitted stages, wristbands or street alcohol sales, per Savannah News Today, which bases this on City of Savannah information.
- Towing: in 2026, cars on the route, staging and disband areas were towed from 12:01 a.m. on parade day (Savannah News Today). Expect the same and don’t park on the route overnight.

How to plan around it
- Do the trolley on March 16 or 18. The hop-on-hop-off pass is the easiest way to get your bearings, and on Viator it can be cancelled free up to 24 hours ahead.
- Save parade day for the parade. Pick a spot on the route early and plan to walk; downtown streets near the route close.
- Book an evening tour for the night before or after. Ghost walks such as the candlelit tour or the 10 p.m. Spirits and Scoundrels walk are a good fit (see the ghost tour guide), or a sunset riverboat cruise (riverboat guide). Check each listing for March dates.
- Book refundable where you can. Riverboat cruises are non-refundable on Viator; most trolley and walking tours allow free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead.

Where to stay for parade week
Parade day is a walking day: downtown streets near the route close, and in 2026 cars on the route were towed from 12:01 a.m. (see above). That makes a Historic District base the easiest, and Tybee or Midtown the drive-in options. Whatever you choose, book early, pick a refundable rate if you can, and check the total with taxes and fees and whether parking is included. We don’t recommend specific hotels or rentals; see our where-to-stay guide for what each area is like.
